Frequently Asked Questions :
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?
Our office opens at 9:30 am and closes at 6 pm on weekdays. We walk dogs later than 6pm but these walks are subject to an after hours rate. We are currently offering limited service on Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm. Saturday requests must be submitted and approved by 6pm on Thursday.
We do not schedule dog walks on Sunday. We understand that there may be a need for the occasional walk outside of our normal operating hours and we accommodate customers' special requests when we can.
Many times we will have a walker committed to a house sit over the weekend and if it is possible they will take the extra work!
How does scheduling work?
It's quite simple. We work in two hour windows which means an appointment set for 2pm will be scheduled for a walker's arrival between 1pm and 3pm.
We are also very flexible and accommodating to today's work demands. Not everyone works 9-5 and many people work remotely from home time to time. Customers may set up walk requests intermittently or set up a recurring schedule using our online scheduling portal.
What if I need to cancel?
We keep a strict cancellation policy which requires that customers notify us via email their wish to cancel by 11pm the night before the confirmed appointment. After 11pm we consider a cancel to be "same day." Same day cancels are charged in full. This is because there is no time for us to sell the time to another customer and our walkers arrive every morning expecting to work and earn a living. We feel it is fair and reasonable to ask our customers to pay for the time they booked. This policy maintains low turnover of walkers, higher level of service and ultimately lower service rates as we spend less time constantly training new walkers.
ARE YOU INSURED AND BONDED?
Yes. We are insured and bonded by an A+ underwriter. This policy is only available to members of Pet Sitters International. It is a comprehensive liability policy that covers incedentals unique to our service. Feel free to ask to see the policy. Action Pack NYC has a stellar safety record. We are a proven trustworthy service that has grown with the neighborhood since 2006. We are happy to provide references.
WHAT TYPE OF ANIMALS DO YOU CARE FOR?
We primarily care for dogs and cats. We will water your plants while you are away and we offer house sitting too!
HOW DO WE PAY?
You will be billed weekly by credit card every Sunday evening at 7pm for services rendered the week prior. We keep your Visa or Mastercard securely on file and send your itemized invoice and receipt of payment straight to your inbox.
No more running to the ATM or late payment fees! We feel that your dog walker shouldn't be a hassle to pay. Even if your card is compromised or expires Action Pack NYC will never stick you with a penalty.
WILL I HAVE THE SAME WALKER EVERY TIME?
If you order regular recurring dog walks, you will have a primary walker. We work as a team so we may send a replacement if your primary walker isn't available. For customers who do not order walks frequently you may have a different walker from time to time but we do prefer to assign a consistent walker.
The team concept works like this: From time to time we will rotate walkers' routes to keep them familiar with new dogs and new buildings. The reason is so all walkers are capable of covering each other in case someone needs a day off or goes on vacation.
Management communicates walker changes with customers. We do not send walkers uninitiated into anyone's home. We always accompany an uninitiated walker with an experienced walker or management so they can be schooled on access, egress and care instructions.
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU WALK AT A TIME, AND HOW DO YOU PICK WHICH DOGS ARE WALKED TOGETHER?
We walk a maximum of 4 dogs at a time. We match dogs up according to location, size, temperament and stamina. Our coverage area is fairly dense so most dogs walked together live pretty darn close to each other.
This is not to say if your pup is a real go getter he/she will not go the distance. Also if your pup is the stop and smell the roses type we will happily shuffle along and watch the grass grow.
WILL YOU TIE MY DOG UP OUTSIDE, GO TO DOG RUNS, OR HAVE MY DOG OFF LEASH?
Your dog will NEVER EVER be tied up alone! Many buildings in Williamsburg are now restricting non tenant dogs from entering. To deal with this and stay efficient we have devised a safety first approach to providing on time top notch service to buildings like the Edge, North Side Piers, 50 N 5th street and 101 Bedford Avenue. Unlike other services who will risk leaving your dog unattended Action Pack NYC maintains a strict 100% no tie up policy. Both management and walkers stay in constant communication throughout the day working out rendezvous times to hold each others' dogs. NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS. We respect buildings' rules. We would love to bring dogs in with us but we understand that there are solutions for all challenges. We will never leave your dog unattended. Period.
While we appreciate the hard work volunteers put into keeping dog runs safe and clean we do not bring our customers' dogs to dog runs or off leash meet ups. We simply cannot take responsibility for dogs not in our care. Plus who wants to come home to a muddy couch or a sick dog who drank a puddle o pee?
Our walkers are equipped with universal leashes and non choke back up collars. We use our equipment in concert with yours. The reason is many times our customers' equipment may have just broken or is ill fit. Instead of risking a dog slipping out into a dangerous urban environment we invest in high quality durable equipment up to the task of high volume use.
